About This Game Naval action - open world multiplayer sandboxNaval Action is a hardcore, realistic, and beautifully detailed naval combat game immersing players into the experience of the most beautiful period of naval history - when sailing ships ruled the seas.Features:Exciting bugs – Because its still alpha we have an interesting selection of annoying, strange, and sometimes wonderful bugs. We are squashing them one by one, but it's Caribbean - they will keep coming for quite some time.Enormous open world – Large open world, recreated based on 18th Century maps, historical harbors, positions, and town names. We do not believe in the various modern hand-holding markers, thus player position is not shown on the map: you will have to navigate yourself using compass, sun or landmarks. PS. battles are instanced to allow extremely complex sailing and fighting calculations for 50 ship battles. Freedom – Build ships, trade, sink enemies of your nation. You can attack anyone almost everywhere. Remember that every action have consequences. Conquer almost every port in the Caribbean, but remember! other adventurous captains will try to ruin your plans.Beautiful ships – Accurate hull models, sail plans, guns, internal upgrades, historical speed, turning and heel performance. Ships from small cutters to large 100+ gun 1st rates will allow the player to experience every possible role of the Age of Sail period. Realistic sailing – Advanced wind and physics model provides for realistic portrayal of ship’s performance in the age of sail. Yard angles, ship angle to wind, fittings and ship condition affects speeds and turning rates. Correct tacking, boxhauling, clubhauling and other elements of the age of sail sailing are possible. Hidden ship characteristics will allow to gradually uncover potential of the vessel – every ship in game will be unique. Historical gunnery - Realistic ballistics and cannon performance of the period. Every cannonball is tracked in the air and after it hits the target. One shot can hit the stern, damage the rudder, then hit the cannon carriage, injure crew, ricochet from the floor and hit the opposite side. Listing and wind affects the shooting distance and will require change of tactics. Weapons - All major types of naval artillery are implemented: from long guns to carronades. Fort and land batteries will provide support during port battles. Mortars are coming soon.Damage model - Leaks, structural damage, torn sails, demasting, raking, fires and all other hazards that were possible in that era. Damage is positional: hit the gun and you might destroy it. Gunnery crews are placed deck by deck. Shot can pass through the balcony, ricochet of the gun, hit a crew member and then fly out of the gunport splashing into the water. Armor thickness and wood type is implemented and at extreme angles cannonballs will ricochet from the hulls. Community driven development - Players actively participate in development and many elements of the game have already been implemented based on the player feedback. Content is immediately given out to players for testing and improvement. I don't really write reviews, but considering the amount of joy I've gotten out of this - and the amount of undeserved♥♥♥♥♥♥devs are getting...I know a lot of people look at buying this game but stop themselves in face of all these bad reviews, so here's my perspective of how the situation is.Naval Action has it's problems but I feel like it's been moving the right way. It IS a good game, there's a reason so many of us have thousands of hours in it. But.. Most people playing this game seem to have forgotten that they are testers of something that is a work-in-progress, and that it needs to try different directions before finding the right one. Said people will also take it very personally when things aren't currently going the way they expect or want it to so they retaliate. You wouldn't believe the extent some players are going to in sabotaging for and antagonizing the devs - often for incredibly petty things. In some way I can understand it, these players have been spending countless hours on here only to get their stuff wiped, changed, and in their eyes: ruined. So they hit back in every way they can. It has escalated from antagonizing and trolling on the forums to willfully sabotaging this games chances of survival by abusing the review section on Steam. If they can't have it their way, it shall not be at all! Plenty of these people STILL PLAY, by the way. They really really hate it, trying to convince you it's a bad game. But yet they log in day after day...Now that that's done with I'll write a little bit about the game itself, what *I* like and dislike about it. Let's start with the pros:- Very pleasing from an aesthetical point of view. Looks just absolutely brilliant.- Fantastic gun play, simulated physics make it all so much more satisfying. That feeling when you know you just cleaned an entire decks worth of crew with your stern rake. - Cannot praise the simulated physics enough, your ship acts in surprising accordance to how you would expect it to. If your internal structure is badly damaged, you will take in water, slow down, turn far worse. Jib sails all shot up? You will struggle more when turning through the wind or when sailing upwind.- Wide variety of ship types and ways to configure them to your own liking. Plenty of wood types, upgrades, skills etc. to be put to use.- I love the progression part of this game, I STILL have things to do even after 2000 hours played. Now hold your♥♥♥♥♥♥ you won't believe this: I cannot WAIT to do it all over again once release hits!- A lot of bang for your buck if you consider the price and how much fun you get out of this.Aaand cons:- Boarding action is terribly boring and unsatisfying, one of the things I heavily dislike and feel could be done a lot better.- The game has a community problem (what I commented on earlier is a part of that) which is partly caused by bad social management by mods (or lack of mods..?). There are things that could've been handled better, and although I think there are very few things that justify literally sabotaging the project, it has to be mentioned.- Looting system is extremely frustrating and badly designed, I cannot believe they haven't changed or improved this yet..- Lacking UI, although it has been severely improved over the last year it still feels wonky.- Le Requin. Just a POS ship I really hate, if you buy this game please remember that Le Requins and their captains all need to die horribly. All in all... RECOMMENDED! It's EASILY worth it's price, add it to your watchlist and grab it while on sale if you're on a budget. You won't regret it. Peace.. This game have been around for more than a couple of years changing systematically the way players interact with the game. From positive to negative reviews this game has become in a myriad of controversy since the very beginning but something is really true about this game, and from my point of view is that the game is improving substantially. Particularly I installed this game after a year of its release but really started to played when the new UI interface was added improve that I found very easy to handled and appreciate the game potential much much easy. I know this game will continuing maturing in the future and while this happening enjoy sailing through the new world water would be a very pleasurable experience with graphics that are breath taken while the sun sets and dawns arrive. fight trade and development are the three components in the game, all time and source consuming so this game will demand from you hours of your real life so i would recommend that this is no the real world. Use the time wisely.thanks to the developers for such an inspiring and beautiful game.. Avoid like the plague!!! Don't get me wrong the game is beautiful, but that's where the enjoyment stops. Paid DLC while the game has been in "Early Access" for more than two years as well? Lies and changed stories about "wipes" and past progress, questionable forum bans and silencing of those who criticize on their own forum and the droves of toxic elitist players create the "perfect storm" so to speak of a melancholic gaming process. This game is not for the average person, and as someone who has 300+ hours on the game as well I can say that even for myself it has become a rather sad experience. That being said if you are obsessed with the Golden Age of Sailing, this will scratch a certain itch for sure, however that joy is usually short lived. Its extremely difficult to get acclimated as a newer player and the grind is excessively long as well as hard. Finally the absolute complete absence of any end game content what so ever, with the single exception of port battles, (which are far and few between, and even when they do occur if youre not in the right clan and in good graces with the organizers youre not getting in anyways,) make the grind meaningless except for the usability of 1st Rate ships. Overall its truly a sad experience because you just cant help but wonder what could have been.. one of the best naval games ever. I like the Game!. this is not a relaxing sailing game if thats what you are looking for as a new player you are not helped by anyone you are on youre own as soon as you go out higher levels attack you you just cant seem to advance. game has gone to the dogs, server always down, rollbacks every few days.xp lost, time spent in game an utter waste. Zup! 2 Game Of Puzzles: Nature Update 1.: Added 40 new levels and achievements, as well as 1 new music track.
